FO2 Stage | Piyush Pamma

Photography has taught me a lot about myself and what I really want to do in my life. At the moment, if I decide not to pursue this as a full-time career, I know in my heart I will circle back to it later because it is meant for me. I believe in myself and I know I belong to photography.

I have lived all my life in Shimla and this city plays a major role in the making of who I am today. I began taking photographs more seriously 3 years ago, and I still consider myself a beginner. But, the curiosity towards photography came from when I was in 10th grade and I saw a friend taking pictures on a DSLR camera. Those cameras were a massive hit during that time, and I was extremely fascinated. I started taking pictures on my phone and eventually discovered my love for photography. My friends and family encouraged me to pursue photography as a side hustle, and 2 years ago, I bought a DSLR camera of my own. It took me a few months to completely understand how to use it. I referred to YouTube tutorials, some friends, and professionals in the field and learned from them as well. I observed and taught myself how to use it in the best way possible.

I started experimenting around with different genres of photography and learned how to take pictures of landscapes, mountains in snow, skies saturated with stars, and every other beautiful scenery that my town had to offer. My love for clicking pictures of landscapes grew and it led to a deep interest in traveling. I traveled around Uttarakhand and most of Himachal Pradesh and took some of the most beautiful photographs I have ever taken. Traveling helped me understand that landscape and architecture photography has become my forte and I absolutely loved capturing their beauty.

Having grown up in Shimla, I always witnessed the natural beauty and the aesthetic of the mountains. This one time, I remember when I wanted to get featured on a Shimla photography page, and I took some pictures from around the town. It paid off, I got that feature and all that creativity and hard work that went into getting this feature were worth it. It felt as if the lens helped me look at my own hometown better.

I have recently completed my B.Com degree, but the way I look at photography, I see it as my passion, something that drives me, and something that makes me want to wake up every day and capture beautiful pictures. I see it as something I would want to pursue throughout my life and the full-time career that moves me. Photography really makes me who I am.
